Family Health and Fitness Day!

It’s time to get up and get active for National Family Health and Fitness Day on June 8th!

The National Recreation and Park Association has created this day to encourage families to participate in healthy physical activity and to help promote the importance of parks and recreation in keeping communities active and healthy.

Looking for ways to build a stronger bond with your family? Creating an enjoyable environment where the entire family can have fun while exercising will help create positive habits and mindsets related to being active.

Start Your Health Journey

There are so many benefits to being active! The CDC states that having a regular physical routine is crucial for your health. Physical activities can help you manage your weight, reduce your chances of getting a disease, improve your brain function, and last but not least—strengthen your bones and muscles.

According to the American Heart Association, being more active can also help you:

  • Lower your blood pressure
  • Boost your levels of good cholesterol
  • Improve blood flow (circulation)
  • Reduce your risk of developing other health problems such as heart disease, stroke, diabetes, osteoarthritis, dementia, and some cancers

Establishing a good exercise routine can help create positive habits and lead to lasting benefits. When we think about exercise, we often think it only benefits the body, but it can also be beneficial to the mind.

Exercise can improve mental health by:

  • Raising your confidence and self-esteem
  • Helping your brain work better, so you can learn and remember more
  • Reducing anxiety and depression
  • Creating new social opportunities so you can get out of the house

Let’s Get Moving!

Although we may not realize it, public parks are an essential public service! They are vitally important to establishing and maintaining the quality of life in a community.

This Family Health and Fitness Day, take your family to the nearest public park and participate in any of the following activities:

  • Go on a bike ride
  • Take a long walk
  • Take a hike
  • Jump rope
  • Make an obstacle course
  • Roller skate
  • Fly a kite
  • Play sports such as soccer, flag football, softball, or kickball

We understand that experiencing an injury may occur while participating in any form of physical activity or exercise, but not to worry, our facility is open 24/7, 365 days a year! We offer the concierge-level care you deserve without the wait.

We are wishing everyone a healthy, fun, and safe Family Health and Fitness Day this year!
