Emergency Medicine Physician

Dr. Scott Darnell is a board-certified emergency medicine physician who has been working in central Arkansas hospitals since completion of his residency in 2010. He was born and raised in Little Rock where he graduated from Little Rock Central High School. After completing a B.S. in Biology at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, he returned to Little Rock for medical school and an emergency medicine residency at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Dr. Darnell has worked at several emergency departments throughout the state and currently serves in a leadership role as assistant director of a local emergency department.

He is arried to Natalie, and they have three sons, Owen, Henry, and Benjamin. In his spare time, Dr. Darnell enjoys outdoor activities, including cycling and tennis. He has coached his kids in multiple sports and most recently coached Henry’s basketball team at the Boy’s Club. He and his family also enjoy spending weekends boating and fishing at Greers Ferry Lake.

Dr. Darnell decided to go into medicine after a collapsed lung as a youth resulted in an out-of-state weeklong hospital stay. “The lack of communication that I experienced during that time has motivated me to provide as much information to my patients as possible so they feel comfortable with their medical care. I want my patients to leave the hospital with all their questions answered.”

Dr. Darnell’s favorite quote is from Winston Churchill, who once said, “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.”
